We are so pleased to announce the National competition winning song for our 2nd Annual DIVINA WORLD Foundation Virtual Talent Search. We had many exciting entries and our judges were hard at work listening to each and every song! It was a very close race and was determined by 1 vote! Congratulations to Mignon Geli who wrote this year’s winning song entitled Healing Soul Wounds (from the album Indigenous InFLUTEnces Vol 3.) What a fitting title for our times. We can’t wait for the world to connect through your music, Mignon!
We would like to extend our deepest heartfelt thanks to our wonderful panel of judges, without whom we could not have had such a rewarding Virtual Talent Search. To each of our judges, we are so grateful for your time, energy, expertise, and your support of the DIVINA WORLD Foundation mission. THANK YOU!
Some experiences shift your entire being...this was one of them
Carmen Milagro, Founder of DIVINA WORLD Foundation shares about a tranformative experience. Read about It here:
I want to write about a moment that shifted my entire being. It took me a year to feel compelled to share the experience you’re about to read about publicly. It was an intense and magical moment that felt so very private. But I’m ready to share this life-changing moment with you today.
A year ago, I was blessed to receive the Honor Song by the Sisters of The One Drum, an all-women circle of Indigenous and Native American wisdom-keepers, drummers, and healers. Together, these five Sisters of The One Drum surrounded me and prayed, sang, and enveloped me in love. I broke open. I wept. Time stopped. I was also delightfully surprised to see my Mami’s spirit reflected in every one of these Aunties. Her face, her essence, her spirit at every age reaching out to me with every beat of the drum.
The Aunties saw me. They embraced me. They blessed me. Music has that strength, to transform and connect, to transport you to a different time, to revive memory and spirit. This unexpected moment, captured in a video I’ll never forget, shifted my entire being.
That’s what music and community can do and that’s what drives the work I continue to do through DIVINA WORLD Foundation and the Indigenous & World Music Hall of Fame. I believe that music transforms and connects us, and that’s why we need advocates to protect and share it.
I am so grateful and honored to have received this blessing and wanted to share this soul awakening moment with you as a reminder about the power of music as a way to connect and build community, across time and space, and as a reminder to stay open and receptive to these experiences. You never know when one might find you.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.
P.S. If you believe in the transformative power of music, consider making a donation to DIVINA WORLD Foundation today. We would be honored to have your support.
